Reddit uses LLMs to fight spam: tackling a problem partly created by the same technology

I’d like to share a development from the world of technology and content moderation. Reddit has started using LLMs to combat spam — a category that has, in large part, been fueled by LLMs themselves.
According to the company, it blocks 23 million spam views per day and identifies around 25,000 new spam posts and comments daily.
Reddit says the new tools are better at detecting covert coordinated schemes, fake engagement, and artificial hype. From January to March, the platform reduced exposure to spam by 20% compared with the previous three months.
Why it matters: AI-driven moderation is already delivering results, but it does not reach its full potential without human oversight.
Do you think AI can truly defeat spam without manual review?
