Google Cloud and Accenture Form Gemini Enterprise Deployment Group

Google Cloud and Accenture Form Gemini Enterprise Deployment Group

Google Cloud and Accenture are forming the Accenture Gemini Enterprise Business Group, a joint unit focused on helping enterprises deploy Google AI tools and services. Under the arrangement, Google will train up to 1,000 Accenture forward-deployed engineers to work with customers and build custom AI applications on the Gemini Enterprise platform.

The initiative places Google Cloud more directly in the rapidly expanding market for forward-deployed engineers, or FDEs: technical teams embedded with customers to turn models and platforms into operational workflows. OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft and Amazon have also established units around enterprise AI deployment.

Deployment becomes a competitive focus

Google Cloud generated $24.8 billion in the second quarter, with enterprise AI contributing a significant portion of that business. At the same time, Alphabet had reportedly accumulated $811 billion in purchase commitments and contractual obligations as of June 30, reflecting the scale of investment behind GPUs, data centres and power capacity.

Those commitments make enterprise adoption an important commercial question. Companies buying AI services still need to identify suitable workflows, integrate systems and establish whether deployments save money or create longer-term revenue opportunities. The Google-Accenture group is intended to provide the technical and business expertise needed to build tailored applications rather than leaving customers to implement the platform alone.

Google seeks greater enterprise AI share

Ramp data from August put Google at roughly 6% of enterprise AI spending among US businesses. Anthropic accounted for 43.5% and OpenAI for 39.7%. The Accenture partnership, first reported by The Wall Street Journal, is part of Google’s effort to address enterprise deployment barriers as it competes with those providers.

Google Cloud has expanded its FDE approach through other partnerships this year. It announced a $750 million partner ecosystem commitment that placed Google FDEs across consultancies including Capgemini, Cognizant and Deloitte. It also agreed a multi-year partnership with CVC Capital Partners to deploy FDEs into the investment firm’s portfolio companies.

Consultancies build their own FDE practices

Accenture is also adding the Google programme to a wider set of deployment initiatives. The consultancy launched a Microsoft FDE practice in March, an FDE initiative with ServiceNow in May and a joint programme with SAP in June. Specialist groups such as Ode with Anthropic and OpenAI’s The Deployment Co. are also pursuing bespoke AI workflow development inside customer organisations.

For businesses, the practical implication is to assess AI programmes in terms of deployable use cases, integration capability and measurable operating outcomes. Access to a model or cloud platform alone does not establish value; the implementation work around it is becoming a central part of enterprise AI procurement.
