Huang’s Trump Call Also Put Apple’s Foldable Phone on Stage

Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang took a live call from President Trump at the All-In conference in Los Angeles while using Apple’s new foldable phone, a $1,999 device that was still five weeks from reaching stores. The on-stage appearance drew attention both for the call and for the unreleased hardware handed to Huang.

Once Trump was on speakerphone, the exchange turned to AI safety. Trump described mounting concerns about artificial intelligence as a “hoax”, arguing that China and “political people” benefited from the panic. He said AI was too consequential, and “bigger than the internet”, to slow down.

Huang told Trump that Nvidia would not permit an AI slowdown. During the exchange, he also remarked that thousands of people were applauding. The appearance combined a high-profile political conversation with a conspicuous demonstration of Apple hardware before its commercial availability.

An Apple device and Nvidia’s AI position

The phone’s presence added another dimension to an event dominated by AI rhetoric. Apple stopped including Nvidia hardware in its devices roughly a decade ago, yet Apple now uses Nvidia infrastructure to run part of Apple Intelligence. Huang’s use of the foldable therefore placed two companies with a changing commercial relationship in the same on-stage moment.

Nvidia’s business is closely tied to AI laboratories and other customers purchasing computing chips for AI work. That context makes public statements about the pace of AI development significant for companies following demand for the vendor’s platforms. Nvidia shares were up 33% over the preceding year, although they fell by a few percentage points on the day of the appearance.

Why the event matters for technology buyers

The conversation did not introduce a product specification, deployment plan or new partnership. It did show how executive appearances can merge product visibility, policy debate and infrastructure positioning. For companies examining AI roadmaps, Nvidia’s agentic AI infrastructure strategy frames Nvidia’s broader push into agentic AI infrastructure and helps place such public messaging alongside the company’s platform strategy.

The Apple device, meanwhile, was presented as an unreleased consumer product rather than as evidence of a new enterprise agreement. Businesses should distinguish demonstrations from confirmed technical commitments, while tracking the infrastructure relationships that support services such as Apple Intelligence. In practical terms, procurement and architecture teams should base decisions on announced capabilities, verified deployment requirements and supplier dependencies rather than on conference-stage visibility.
