Meta AI launches Mac app with dictation and business integrations

Meta has released a Mac app for Meta AI that adds built-in, system-wide dictation and the ability to answer questions about what is currently on a user’s screen. The screen-context capability is powered by Meta’s Muse Spark model, while the dictation function is designed to work across applications on macOS.
The launch was announced alongside an update aimed at business owners. Merchants can connect Instagram and Facebook accounts, Meta advertising campaigns and Google Workspace services—including Gmail, Docs, Sheets and Slides—to Meta AI, then ask the assistant for information drawn from those connected tools.
Dictation across Mac applications
Meta said its dictation feature operates system-wide, placing it in the same category as products such as Wispr Flow, Superwhisper and Monologue. Google also updated its Gemini app for Mac last month with system-wide dictation functionality.
In addition to voice input, the Meta AI Mac app can inspect the current screen and respond based on that context. Meta identified Muse Spark as the model behind this function. The capability extends the company’s work on Muse models, including Muse Spark model for agentic coding, which is positioned around agentic coding, while the new Mac application focuses on interaction with desktop apps and on-screen information.
Business data connections and workflow outputs
For merchants, the new connections are intended to make Meta AI a query interface for business activity across Meta’s platforms and Google Workspace. Meta said the assistant can return campaign-performance information and audience-engagement metrics, helping users identify posts that performed well.
The company also said users can obtain competitor intelligence based on publicly available data. With the business-tool integrations in place, Meta AI can generate proposal decks and draft documents and spreadsheets.
Meta’s push for business agents
Meta has been increasing its focus on AI tools for businesses, including automated customer support and enquiries across WhatsApp and Instagram. During Meta’s fiscal second-quarter 2026 earnings call, chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said the company sees a major opportunity in selling agents to businesses and automating work on their behalf.
Businesses evaluating the Mac app should determine which accounts, campaign data and Workspace materials they are prepared to connect, and validate AI-generated reporting and drafts before making them part of routine operations.
