Meta appoints MongoDB chief to lead Enterprise Platform
Meta has launched Meta Enterprise Platform, a new initiative intended to expand the company’s artificial-intelligence offerings for businesses and corporate customers. It has appointed Chirantan “CJ” Desai, formerly the chief executive of database software company MongoDB, to lead the effort.
Meta says the platform will bring together its technology stack for companies and developers. The named components include Muse, Meta Business Agent, Muse API and Muse Code, alongside additional tools that Meta plans to offer through the initiative.
From personal assistant to business products
The announcement follows the launch of Muse earlier this month. Meta describes Muse as a personal AI assistant that can carry out tasks such as sending emails and booking travel. The Enterprise Platform extends that momentum towards organizational use cases.
Meta has framed the initiative as a way to turn its models and agents into products and services that companies can deploy for their own operations. Desai said AI will redefine how organizations innovate, grow, serve customers and run business operations over the coming years.
For Meta, the product grouping also places its coding tooling in a broader commercial portfolio. The development of Muse Code advances in agentic coding provides context for how Muse Code can sit alongside agents, APIs and other services aimed at enterprise teams.
Leadership change at MongoDB
Desai’s move prompted an immediate response at MongoDB, whose shares fell by more than 17% after news of his departure. MongoDB appointed Dev Ittycheria as interim chief executive; Ittycheria had previously held the position while the board searches for a permanent replacement.
Meta said it has a track record of helping millions of advertisers and hundreds of millions of businesses scale. Its Enterprise Platform is designed to make the company’s AI stack available as deployable offerings rather than limiting it to consumer-facing experiences.
