OpenAI and Oracle Extend ChatGPT Into Enterprise Workflows

OpenAI and Oracle are expanding their commercial partnership to bring Oracle applications and data into ChatGPT, while introducing Oracle offerings built with OpenAI models and products. Oracle reported 130,000 active ChatGPT users and more than 95,000 active Codex users across its organization.
The companies say the work builds on their existing relationship around the OpenAI API, ChatGPT Work and Codex. Oracle’s recruiting team uses ChatGPT Work for market research that previously took two to four days to compile; preparation now takes 15 to 20 minutes.
Oracle AI Workspace is planned for ChatGPT
Oracle is developing Oracle AI Workspace to integrate Oracle applications and data with ChatGPT. The intended experience is designed to allow users to describe an objective, find relevant information and complete approved business workflows in one place.
A finance employee, for example, could investigate costs, review purchasing decisions and identify outstanding work before a month-end close. Oracle says the workspace is intended to bring together data from finance, procurement and planning applications while operating within each organization’s permissions and approvals.
The effort extends the direction established when ChatGPT application launch platform began positioning ChatGPT as a place for launching applications, while Oracle focuses this integration on enterprise data, workflows and administration. The partners describe an agent-ready enterprise in which people and AI agents work across business applications in a connected environment.
New Oracle products use OpenAI models and tools
Oracle also announced Oracle AI Security Mesh, which is designed to help customers find and fix vulnerabilities in applications and infrastructure using OpenAI cyber models. Oracle will manage the testing infrastructure, with the stated aim of helping customers deploy those capabilities safely and within authorized scope.
Its Oracle AI SMB Bundle combines ChatGPT Business and Codex with Oracle applications and recurring Oracle Cloud Infrastructure credits. The bundle is aimed at small businesses that want to build products and manage operations.
Oracle App Composer is designed for teams building applications with Codex and other AI tools. It is intended to connect those applications to approved Oracle data and workflows, enable sharing across an organization, and use Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for deployment with company permissions and access controls.
Marketplace access and procurement
Oracle customers in the United States can purchase access to the OpenAI API, Codex and ChatGPT Work through Oracle Marketplace. They can use existing procurement processes and eligible Oracle Universal Credits.
For businesses, the practical implication is to evaluate AI integrations alongside identity, permissions, approvals and procurement, rather than treating model access as a stand-alone deployment decision.
