BRIDGE:BREAK — 22 vulnerabilities in Lantronix and Silex converters threaten nearly 20,000 devices

Colleagues, a cybersecurity alert: 22 vulnerabilities (BRIDGE:BREAK) were identified in Serial‑to‑IP converters.

Forescout located nearly 20,000 affected devices online. Impacted models: Lantronix EDS3000PS/EDS5000 and Silex SD330‑AC.
Vulnerabilities include RCE, authentication bypass, firmware tampering, data disclosure, and more.
Risks: device takeover, sensor-data manipulation, lateral movement and disruption of OT services.

Recommendations: apply vendor patches, remove default passwords, segment networks and block direct Internet access.

Why it matters: these converters bridge legacy devices to IP networks and can provide an entry point into critical infrastructure.

How will you protect Serial‑to‑IP equipment in your environment?
