Texas Breach: Data of 3M Driver's Licenses and Passports Stolen

Colleagues, please note: a major cybersecurity breach has occurred in Texas. According to the Attorney General, the intrusion exposed driver's license and passport numbers for more than 3 million individuals. Attackers accessed the system of a vendor selling hunting and fishing licenses; the vendor remains unnamed. Email addresses, phone numbers and postal addresses were also compromised. The timing of the incident and whether there was interaction with the attackers are unknown. Risks include fraud and identity theft. I recommend monitoring notifications, freezing credit reports and enabling multi-factor authentication. The scale and nature of the data elevate the risk of large-scale fraud.
