Adobe Acquires Topaz Labs — Strengthening AI Tools for Photo and Video

Colleagues, I’d like to share AI news: Adobe has acquired Topaz Labs.

Topaz — over 20 years in the market and an Emmy winner; creators of Astra (video upscaling) and Wonder (retouching). Adobe will integrate their models into Firefly and other Creative Cloud apps; Topaz products will remain available separately. Their core strength is optimizing large models to run on consumer GPUs, making workflows faster and cheaper. The deal is expected to close in H2 2026 and positions Adobe against competitors such as Canva and Blackmagic.

Why it matters: professionals will get more accessible, responsive tools for restoration, denoising and detail enhancement.
