Agentic AI: where we are now and what this class of systems should become

Friends, I’d like to share a note from the AI world: MIT has examined what agentic AI looks like today and where it is heading.
Today, agentic AI refers to systems that can act: book, launch workflows, work with tools, and retain context.
They are often built on a core LLM with an added layer: access to services, memory, APIs, and behavior rules.
The clearest impact is already visible in coding agents. But with value comes risk: errors, data leaks, excessive automation, and people gradually losing skills.
Why it matters: the technology is maturing fast, yet the line between assistant and replacement remains very thin.
Where do you think agentic AI is truly useful, and where is it still too early to trust it with full autonomy?
