Claude Sonnet 5: agentic tasks are cheaper, and the gap to top-tier models is clearly narrower

Friends, I’d like to share some news from the AI world: Anthropic has introduced Claude Sonnet 5 — a more accessible model for agentic tasks.
Two points stood out to me:
— the model can plan, use tools, and carry out long tasks autonomously;
— in terms of quality, it is close to Opus 4.8, but at a significantly lower cost.
Anthropic also highlights improvements in reasoning, coding, and knowledge work. Just as important, Sonnet 5 is better at refusing unsafe prompts and attempts to bypass restrictions.
Why this matters: the AI market is increasingly competing not only on quality, but also on the cost of autonomous execution.
Do you think this is already the new standard for models? #AI #Anthropic #Claude #AIagents
