RustDuck in Rust: a botnet learns to hide and attack routers and servers

RustDuck in Rust: a botnet learns to hide and attack routers and servers

Colleagues, I’d like to draw your attention to a cybersecurity update.

Researchers have identified RustDuck, a two-stage botnet that infects home routers, IP cameras, Android boxes and poorly secured servers.

It exploits weak passwords and legacy vulnerabilities in network gear and web services, then recruits compromised devices into a DDoS network.

Its move to Rust, along with sandbox, debugger and virtual machine checks, makes analysis harder and signals active family evolution.

Why it matters: campaigns like this are another reminder that exposed interfaces, outdated equipment and default passwords are a direct business risk.

How are Telnet, SSH and ADB controlled in your infrastructure?
