Friends, I’d like to share some news from the venture and AI world.

Ashton Kutcher is leaving Sound Ventures, which he co-founded 11 years ago, to launch a separate fund with Morgan Beller.

Their focus will be AI infrastructure, energy, and deep tech. This does not appear to signal any issues at Sound Ventures: the fund remains a strong player and has already backed OpenAI, Anthropic, and other notable companies.

What matters to me here is the broader trend: the next phase of AI investing is increasingly shifting to the layer beneath models — infrastructure and compute.

Why it matters: this is where new market value is being created today.
