Autonomous Ground Vehicles in Ukraine: War Accelerates Military Robotics

A note from the world of AI and robotics: Forterra’s autonomous ground vehicles are already being used in Ukraine.
According to the company, more than 100 unmanned ATVs have been operating in the conflict zone for about nine months. They transport supplies, support evacuations, and navigate difficult routes where it is too dangerous for people to go.
The battlefield has also exposed limitations: these systems are often remotely operated rather than fully autonomous. Beyond navigation and connectivity, resilience to EW, mud, mechanical failures, and rapid software updates is critical.
Why it matters: war shows where autonomy is already valuable and where it still needs serious engineering refinement.
Do you think ground autonomy will become as standard as drones?
