The Illusion of Randomness: How the Ill Bloom Vulnerability Enabled $3.1M in Crypto Wallet Drains

Colleagues, I’d like to highlight an important cybersecurity story.

I noted the Ill Bloom vulnerability in crypto wallets: weak seed phrase generation made some wallets predictable.

Coinspect has already confirmed coordinated fund withdrawals: on May 27, attackers drained 431 wallets for $3.1 million.

The risk mainly affects older, lesser-known mobile wallets. Hardware wallets and most popular software solutions are not affected, but it is still worth checking your address.

Why it matters: if a recovery phrase is weakly generated, all assets linked to it may be at risk.
