A ransomware negotiator case in the U.S. is a warning sign for cybersecurity

Friends, I’d like to share a cybersecurity update: in the United States, Angelo Martino, who worked as a ransomware negotiator and helped extortionists, has been convicted.

Investigators found that he conspired with BlackCat (ALPHV) hackers against U.S. companies.

The case involved the seizure of crypto assets and property worth more than $10 million. In one incident, the group extorted about $1.2 million.

Why it matters: this case shows that threats are not always external. Businesses need access controls and thorough vetting of third-party contractors.

How do you assess this risk today?
