MIT: How students help protect cities from cyberattacks and AI

MIT: How students help protect cities from cyberattacks and AI

I’d like to share a story from the world of AI and cybersecurity.

MIT Cybersecurity Clinic students help local authorities and vulnerable organisations identify weak points before an attack happens.

They provide free risk assessments and practical guidance: multi-factor authentication, backups, employee training, and incident response planning.

MIT emphasises defensive social engineering: cybersecurity is not only about technology, but also about people, processes, and decisions. In the age of AI, this matters even more, as attacks become faster and more dangerous.

Why it matters: basic measures often deliver the greatest impact at the lowest cost.

Does your company focus more on technology or on training people?
