OpenAI makes a hardware move: a Codex keyboard and a hint of a new device

I’d like to share some news from the world of AI and hardware. OpenAI has introduced Codex Micro, a limited-edition $230 keyboard for working with Codex.
The device was developed with Work Louder. It features illuminated Agent Keys, customisable Command Keys, a joystick for launching workflows, and a reasoning-level dial.
In essence, this is an attempt to turn a keyboard into a control centre for AI agents. At the same time, according to Bloomberg, OpenAI is also developing a more ambitious device — a screenless portable speaker.
Why it matters: OpenAI is clearly testing how to move AI beyond apps and make it part of everyday hardware. In light of Apple’s lawsuit, this deserves particular attention.
Do you think hardware will truly become the next frontier for AI?
