Two young hackers sentenced, hitting Scattered Spider in the UK

Colleagues, I’d like to highlight a cybersecurity development.
In the UK, two young hackers, aged 18 and 20, were sentenced to five years and six months in prison. They admitted to the summer 2024 attack on Transport for London.
According to police, the incident disrupted TfL’s infrastructure, including ticketing and train arrival data services. The damage was estimated at around £29 million.
The NCA said this has significantly weakened Scattered Spider, a group that often relies on social engineering and targets people rather than systems.
Why it matters: protecting employees and access controls is now just as critical as perimeter security.
How do you assess this attack method?
