Bit2Watt: cloud GPU workloads can destabilize the grid

Colleagues, I would like to highlight a topic at the intersection of cybersecurity and critical infrastructure.
Researchers have demonstrated Bit2Watt: a cloud GPU workload can be deliberately used to alter power consumption and trigger dangerous oscillations without hacking or exploiting a vulnerability.
Two approaches are described: SWMA, based on synthetic CUDA code, and LTMA, embedded inside LLM training. In both cases, synchronization across many GPUs is the key factor.
Standard telemetry detects such signals poorly, and there is no single patch here — the vulnerable link is the compute-and-power chain itself.
Why it matters: protection is needed both at the power-supply layer and in cloud workload patterns.
In your view, are clouds ready for such scenarios?
