Browser wars have shifted focus: the debate is no longer about search, but about AI agents inside the browser

Friends, I’d like to share a development from the browser and AI space.
The market is entering a new phase: Chrome and Safari still lead, but competition is increasingly centred on AI agents that do more than search — they help users complete tasks directly in the browser.
Notable alternatives include Perplexity’s Comet, Dia, Opera’s Neon, as well as privacy- and productivity-focused options such as Brave, DuckDuckGo, Vivaldi, SigmaOS and Zen. Ladybird also stands out as an ambitious open-source project built from scratch. OpenAI Atlas has already been shut down.
Why this matters: the browser is increasingly becoming a work tool, not just a window to the internet.
Are you already testing an alternative to Chrome?
