Colleagues, I’d like to draw attention to China’s open-weight AI models: where is the real risk, and where is the noise?

Colleagues, I’d like to draw attention to China’s open-weight AI models: where is the real risk, and where is the noise?

Colleagues, I’d like to highlight a topic at the intersection of cybersecurity and AI. News coverage is once again focused on Chinese open-weight models and the potential restrictions around them.

I share Arcee’s view: these models are not inherently more dangerous than any other open-source software.

What matters:
- the model runs inside the company’s environment, with no access for the developer;
- it should be reviewed and tested before deployment;
- enterprise teams are increasingly building model-agnostic solutions.

Why this matters: the focus should be on secure integration and strong local alternatives, not on bans.

How do you assess the risks of open-weight AI in the corporate environment?
