Synthetic Identity Fraud Is Now Targeting Machine Identities

Colleagues, I’d like to highlight an important cybersecurity trend: synthetic identity fraud is moving beyond human accounts and now affects machine identities.
I see three key risks:
• An attacker may not hijack an existing account, but instead create a fake NHI;
• Such an identity can look legitimate and remain undetected for a long time;
• As AI agents grow and governance remains weak, these identities are easier to lose track of.
What I consider critical: an owner for every NHI, secret rotation, least privilege/JIT, and continuous behavioural monitoring.
Why it matters: if no one controls an identity, it can accumulate access and become a point for silent compromise.
Do you already have full visibility into your machine identities?
