Vietnam proposes new social media limits for children: accounts stay, activity is restricted

Vietnam is considering a novel approach for users under 16: a child may keep an account, but posting, commenting and reacting would be prohibited.
Under the draft, parents would register these accounts and monitor both screen time and content. Platforms, in turn, would have to verify users’ ages and display only age-appropriate material.
Separate limits are also being discussed for gaming: up to 60 minutes per day per game.
Why it matters: countries are increasingly seeking a balance between protecting children and ensuring access to the digital environment.
Do you think such measures can actually work?
