TechCrunch selects 20 startups for 2026 Startup Battlefield

TechCrunch has named 20 companies to the 2026 Startup Battlefield, its competition at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco. The selected founders will pitch on the Disrupt Stage for a $100,000 prize and the Disrupt Cup, with semifinal sessions scheduled for October 13 and 14 and a winner due to be crowned on October 15.
The group ranges from space logistics and industrial robotics to molecular diagnostics, fraud intelligence and database infrastructure. TechCrunch says the shared theme is the effort to make formerly invisible signals measurable, so organisations can model complex systems and act on data from the biological, physical, industrial and digital worlds.
Four semifinal tracks
The first session, focused on space and physical AI, includes Longshot Space, which aims to send cargo to orbit with hydrogen-powered kinetic launchers at $50 per kilogram. Veritas is developing custom microchips for luxury-product authentication, while Laplace Intelligence is building agentic world models for cities, ports and airports to test counterfactual scenarios before acting.
Flox Intelligence uses real-time AI to detect animal behaviour and redirect wildlife away from airports and railways. Satlyt, also in this session, says it can let satellite operators turn idle spacecraft computing capacity into virtual AI data centres with a single line of code.
Energy and manufacturing contenders include LNK Energies, Helix Carbon, IndustrialNext, Niobia AI and Licube. Their products address compact hydrogen power, blast-furnace waste-gas conversion, adaptive robotic assembly, AI-assisted root-cause analysis, and ultra-high-purity lithium and lithium isotopes for fusion and advanced materials.
Health, enterprise and security applications
The health-tech session features Mosqitter’s sensor-based disease intelligence platform, Hiyd AI’s wearable and application for sleep, movement and nutrition data, and TimeTeller GmbH’s molecular diagnostics and AI for measuring biological clocks. NTangible quantifies how athletes perform under pressure, while Intero Biosystems produces miniature human organs intended to help pharmaceutical companies identify safer and more effective medicines.
In enterprise and security, Apate.ai deploys conversational AI bots to engage scammers and generate intelligence for banks, telecommunications providers and governments. CedarDB combines real-time transactions and analytics in one engine, with database-level guardrails that AI agents cannot bypass. Prismm focuses on secure inheritance workflows for banks, while Floqer connects customer data from more than 80 sources into a timeline retrievable by AI agents. GUDEA analyses audience behaviour, engagement patterns and information spread.
What happens next
After the four semifinal sessions, five companies will move to the Startup Battlefield Finals on October 15. Before the finalists present at 11:30 a.m., TechCrunch will host alumni updates from Glīd, Nephrogen and Molecule.one; the champion is scheduled to be announced at 4:15 p.m.
Startup Battlefield is supported by Google for Startups and SAP. For business leaders, the Top 20 offers a practical scan of where early-stage teams are applying AI, sensing and data infrastructure: the relevant question is whether a new measurement capability can improve a decision, automate a process or expose a risk in a specific operating environment.
