Anthropic consolidates Claude chat, Cowork and Artifacts
Anthropic is merging the front ends for Claude chat and Cowork into a single interface that also brings together Artifacts, Claude’s interactive workspace feature. The redesigned Claude experience is intended to remove the need for users to decide which tab or window is appropriate for a particular task.
Within the unified interface, Claude will automatically route requests to different parts of the application. Claude Design, introduced in April for website and prototype design, will also be available throughout Claude rather than in a separate part of the product.
One interface for Claude work
Anthropic said customers had often struggled to select the right tab for the right task before the redesign. The company is addressing that problem by placing chat, Cowork and Artifacts in one window, with the assistant handling the routing.
The move follows the expansion of Cowork to web and mobile, where Claude Cowork expands to web and mobile positioned the product as an AI agent for office work across those platforms. Anthropic has also recently upgraded Cowork’s memory layer, which is designed to help Claude retain user context across chats.
Slides and documents added to the workflow
Anthropic is adding dedicated features for presentations and documents. Users will be able to ask Claude to create, edit and present slides, then download a generated presentation as a PDF or PowerPoint file.
With Docs, users can work alongside Claude on sections of a document, ask questions and comment on completed material. Generated documents and presentations can be shared through a link, and users can edit them from a phone.
The workflow can also span devices. A user can ask Claude on a desktop computer to begin creating a document and use the mobile application to check the task’s progress.
Initial availability
The new features are scheduled to roll out over the coming weeks to Claude Pro and Max subscribers on the web, desktop and mobile. Anthropic plans to make them available to free and team tiers later.
For businesses, the practical implication is to evaluate the unified workspace as a single flow for conversation, agent work, documents and presentations, while confirming which plan and device support are available before standardising employee workflows.
