Instinct secures $1 billion Series C at $10 billion valuation

AI assistant startup Instinct has secured a $1 billion Series C financing at a $10 billion valuation. Sequoia Capital, Benchmark Capital and Coatue were among the investors in a round confirmed by the company on Monday.

The funding follows an announcement only a month earlier that valued Instinct at $2.5 billion. The company launched its invite-only service in August 2026, making the Series C a rapid follow-on round for a newly launched consumer AI-agent product.

Funding highlights demand for consumer agents

Instinct belongs to a category of AI assistants designed to carry out tasks rather than merely answer questions or hold conversations. Its service can book travel and restaurant reservations, make purchases, pay bills, cancel subscriptions, conduct research and order groceries.

When a user assigns a task, Instinct uses its own phone number and computer. The company has also introduced a concierge feature that can place calls for appointments at businesses without online booking, plus a trusted person network for coordinating one person’s plans with friends’ agents.

Founder Noah Shinn said the company is building a personal agent intended to handle the personal nuances of everyday life. He said the funding would help Instinct reach more people and continue developing personal AI.

Privacy and competition remain central questions

Those task-execution capabilities require users to disclose personal information, an issue some users have raised. Instinct’s initial privacy policy drew concern for its breadth, and the company has since updated the policy.

Instinct is also competing with Meta’s AI assistant, Muse. Muse offers similar agent features and deeper integration with Meta’s social products, including the ability to monitor and summarise Instagram direct messages, Facebook Groups and Marketplace listings. The source reports that Muse has reached the top of US app stores and recorded millions of downloads.

Instinct communicates through SMS and text messages and does not yet have a mobile app. It has not disclosed user numbers or growth metrics. The new valuation therefore reflects investor interest in the consumer-agent category as well as Instinct’s product direction, while leaving operational adoption figures undisclosed.

Business implication

For businesses assessing AI agents, Instinct’s round underlines the need to evaluate what an agent can execute, what personal data and permissions it needs, and how those controls compare with rapidly evolving competing platforms before putting it into customer or employee workflows.
