Truecaller in dispute with India’s regulator over anti-spam rules for business calls

I’d like to share a development from the world of technology and telecom regulation.
Truecaller is now in a dispute with India’s TRAI over caller ID app rules, particularly the dedicated 1400 and 1600 series for commercial calls.
According to the company, the new restrictions make it harder to flag some of these calls as spam. As a result, users are increasingly ignoring calls from these numbers, while trust in legitimate business communications is declining.
Truecaller has already introduced the Frequently Blocked label to warn users about numbers that are widely blocked.
Why it matters: anti-spam protection should not only stop fraud, but also preserve useful business-to-customer communication.
Where do you think the balance should be?
